Salt air.
Airborne salt settles on every surface, holds moisture against the substrate, and attacks the bond between paint and siding. If salt residue isn't washed off before priming, the best paint on the market will still fail early.
UV load.
South-facing elevations here take punishing direct sun. Cheap paints chalk, fade, and lose their sheen in a couple of seasons — especially deep colors and reds.
Humidity and wind-driven rain.
Moisture finds every unsealed seam, nail hole, and gap in the trim. Water that gets behind the paint film pushes it right back off.
Storm season.
Wind-driven debris and rain expose weak points fast. Properly sealed and back-primed trim holds up dramatically better.
That's why our prep is not negotiable: full pressure wash to strip salt and mildew, scrape and sand failing areas, spot-prime bare wood, caulk every joint and penetration, then apply coastal-grade product.
